I did three tarot readings over the course of the Dark Moon: one preceding each of my rituals, and one to give me an idea of what I need to look forward to over the next month.<\/p>\n

The first reading, concerning my performance of Lon Milo DuQuette\u2019s banishing\/invocation, was reasonably clear and positive.<\/p>\n

1\/2 \u2013 Present position and current influence – 3 Disks \u201cWorks\u201d \/ 2 Wands \u201cDominion\u201d \u2013 Taking concrete steps, translating ideas into reality.\u00a0 Crossed by willpower and a willingness to take risks.<\/p>\n

3 \u2013 That which crowns it – Ace of Wands \u2013 New beginnings, willpower, decisiveness, opportunity for self-development.<\/p>\n

4 \u2013 It rests upon this – 10 Disks \u201cWealth\u201d \u2013 Becoming aware of one\u2019s circumstances.\u00a0 Awareness of one\u2019s inner and outer wealth.<\/p>\n

5 \u2013 That which is going out \u2013 10 Swords \u201cRuin\u201d \u2013\u00a0 Chaos, confusion, pain.\u00a0 Mental implosions and collapse.\u00a0 Who doesn\u2019t love to see this on the outs?<\/p>\n

6 \u2013 That which is coming in \u2013 9 Cups \u201cHappiness\u201d \u2013 Meaningful experience, quiet happiness, joy that lets the heart overflow.<\/p>\n

7 \u2013 The Querrant \u2013 VIII Adjustment \u2013 Objectivity, balance, karma, sober perception.<\/p>\n

8 \u2013 Inner Influences \u2013 II the Priestess \u2013 Inner guidance, deep spiritual experiences.<\/p>\n

9 \u2013 Outer Influences \u2013 VI the Lovers \u2013 The Chemical Wedding, duality and union of opposites, division and decisions.<\/p>\n

10 \u2013 Conclusion \u2013 6 Swords \u201cScience\u201d + XV the Devil \u2013 Perception, progress, openness, insight, thirst for power and encountering the Shadow.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The second reading I did concerned my performance of the Rite of Jeu.\u00a0 The reading was less clear, but I chose to interpret it as a green flag nevertheless.\u00a0 Looking back at the reading more closely, after the experience itself, I definitely feel like I made the right call.<\/p>\n

1 \/ 2 \u2013 Current position and influences \u2013 XIX the Sun \/ XIV\u00a0 Art \u2013 Bliss, joy, new birth, success, and self-development.\u00a0 Crossed by the balance of powers, finding the right proportion, harmony, and healing.<\/p>\n

3 \u2013 That which Crowns it – I the Magus \u2013 Activity, resolution, willpower, vital force, having the highest perceptions.<\/p>\n

4 \u2013 It rests upon this – Knight of Swords \u2013 Discernment, flexibility, intelligence, striving toward new goals.<\/p>\n

5 \u2013 That which is going out \u2013 10 Swords \u201cRuin\u201d \u2013 An intriguing repetition, and one which I could only view as auspicious.<\/p>\n

6 \u2013 That which is coming in – 6 Disks \u201cSuccess\u201d \u2013 increase, favorable interplay of forces,<\/p>\n

7 \u2013 The Querrant \u2013 III the Empress \u2013 Growth, creative potential, intuitive power, renewal, insight into the internal cycle.<\/p>\n

8 – Inner Influences \u2013 XXI the Universe \u2013 Joy of living, being in the right place at the right time, resting in one\u2019s center, being one in the beginning and the end.<\/p>\n

9 – Outer Influences \u2013 2 Disks \u201cChange\u201d \u2013 Change, mutual fructification, insight into the vital rhythm of growth and regression.\u00a0 In a sea of big-mover cards, this one seemed a little strange.<\/p>\n

10 \u2013 9 Swords \u201cCruelty\u201d + XX the Aeon \u2013 Worries, panic, nightmares, primitive fantasies of violence.\u00a0 Transformation, new beginnings, spiritual development, being captured by the spirit of the new age.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The final reading I did over the dark moon was my usual monthly\u2014switched to the Dark Moon for the various reasons discussed previously.\u00a0 I might have done the reading at the depth of the moon, but I though I\u2019d give the Stele of Jeu rite at least 24 hours to ripple out before looking to the future.<\/p>\n

I had actually considered performing the rite again on Monday, but ultimately concluded that I was too exhausted to pull it off.\u00a0 In fact, I didn\u2019t actually give the monthly reading more than a cursory glance the night I laid them out.\u00a0 Instead, I proceeded to promptly fall over.<\/p>\n

1st House \u2013 Self, Viewpoint, the Mask – Queen of Swords<\/span><\/strong> \u2013 Wealth of ideas, presence of mind, independence, and quick-wittedness.<\/p>\n

2nd House \u2013 Finances, Communication – IV the Emperor<\/span><\/strong> \u2013 Willingness to take responsibility, initiative, pragmatism.\u00a0 Clear structures, consolidation, realizing plans, perfectionism.<\/p>\n

3rd House \u2013 Daily Experiences & Immediate Influences – XIV Art<\/span><\/strong> \u2013 Finding the right proportions, balance of powers, harmony, overcoming differences.\u00a0 Resolving conflicts, joyful and productive work,<\/p>\n

4th House \u2013 Home-place, Family, Land & Roots – Knight of Disks<\/span><\/strong> \u2013 Firmness, sobriety, perseverance.\u00a0 Responsible position.\u00a0 Enjoying what has been achieved.<\/p>\n

5th House \u2013 Pleasure, Hobbies, & Lovers\u2013 4 Swords \u201cTruce\u201d<\/span><\/strong> \u2013 Sham peace, temporary retreat, calm before the storm, isolation, building up one\u2019s strength.<\/p>\n

6th House \u2013 Work, Illness, Duty, & Routine – Prince of Swords<\/span><\/strong> – Good ol\u2019 P of S is fighting himself.\u00a0 He\u2019s working too hard.\u00a0 Unlike the other knights and the other princes, his chariot is drawn by no noble steed: rather, it is drawn by miniature versions of himself.\u00a0 He is at odds with himself, unable to choose a direction, unable to focus.\u00a0 He is the proverbial chicken running around with his head cut off.\u00a0 He needs to focus.<\/p>\n

As I write this, I am skipping class in favor of nursing a cold.\u00a0 I have been putting off homework in favor of other homework.\u00a0 I\u2019m fighting the urge to play social dominance games with one of my professors, and not quite sure that I\u2019m keeping up on the long-term projects I should be working on.<\/p>\n

Not good.\u00a0 Need to turn this shit around.<\/p>\n

7th House \u2013 Partnership – Queen of Wands<\/span><\/strong> \u2013 Healthy sense of self-assurance, initiative, impulsiveness, independence.\u00a0 Equality, mature relationship, the Tantra of love, heartfelt warmth.<\/p>\n

8th House \u2013 Taboo, Crisis, Sex, Death & Taxes \u2013 2 Swords \u201cPeace\u201d<\/span><\/strong> \u2013 State of balance, relaxation, serenity, compromise.\u00a0 I\u2019m really not sure how to read this except as \u201cno worries\u201d.<\/p>\n

9th House \u2013 Higher Perception, Journeys, & Movement \u2013 Knight of Swords<\/span><\/strong> \u2013 Versatility, discernment, flexibility, intelligence.\u00a0 Steering toward new goals while inspired by ideas.<\/p>\n

10th House \u2013 Recognition, Career, Ambition, & Status \u2013 8 Wands \u201cSwiftness\u201d<\/span><\/strong> \u2013 \u201cAhah\u201d experience, sudden resolution to problems.\u00a0 Innovation, electrifying ideas, favorable developments, foreign business deals, advanced education, taking quick action.<\/p>\n

11th House \u2013 Friendships, Groups, & Social Activities<\/span><\/strong> \u2013 5 Disks \u201cWorry\u201d \u2013 Helplessness, fear of loss, frustration at nothing working out.\u00a0 Having a negative influence on each-other.<\/p>\n

12th House \u2013 Secrets, Hopes, & Fears \u2013 XIII Death<\/span><\/strong> \u2013 Parting, natural end.\u00a0 Confronting transience.\u00a0 Beginning of a fundamental change.<\/p>\n

+2 \u2013 XXI the Universe \/ 0 the Fool<\/span><\/strong> \u2013 Completion, joy of living, being in the right place at the right time, resting in one\u2019s center.\u00a0 Crossed by original potential, creative chaos, new beginnings, starting off into the unknown.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So \u2026 that\u2019s five Major Arcana, five court cards, and four minor arcana.\u00a0 Four swords, three disks, two wands, no cups.\u00a0 (Seriously?\u00a0 No cups for my doulble-Scorpio ass?)<\/p>\n

The World and the Fool at the heart of things tell me that although it may not look like there\u2019s much going on at first, there\u2019s some big shit afoot.\u00a0 This impression is reinforced by the Death card (even if it is in the 12th House).<\/p>\n

I feel confident that XIII, XXI, and 0 must be related to my resumed and escalated magical practice.\u00a0 In particular, these are all things that are supposed to happen when you invoke the agathos daimon.\u00a0 And I\u2019m going to keep doing it: I want to die and be reborn: I want another initiatory experience<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The overwhelming presence of the court cards tells me that people<\/em> are going to be very significant this month. Not terribly surprising, given the nature of academia.<\/p>\n

The only \u201cbad\u201d card I see is 5D in the 11th House, though the Prince of Swords isn\u2019t one of my favorites.\u00a0 I\u2019m a little concerned about that 5D, actually.\u00a0 I\u2019m always nervous about things going awry in my very small circle of friends: I don\u2019t\u2019 have any to loose.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m also concerned about 8 Wands in the 10th House.\u00a0 That could be really<\/em> good.\u00a0 Or it could be \u201cshit goes crazy<\/em>\u201d.\u00a0 Not that these things are in any way mutually exclusive.\u00a0 One wonders how it relates to IV in the 2nd House.\u00a0 I hope this means that I\u2019ll manage to get my hustle started up.<\/p>\n

2 Swords in the 8th House confuses me, of course.\u00a0 I don\u2019t really have taboos.\u00a0 But how can \u201cpeace\u201d be a crisis?\u00a0 Or does my more optimistic interpretation above actually float: that there4 is no crisis this month?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
