Goals are hard for me sometimes.\u00a0 Life is a journey, not a destination \u2026 right?\u00a0 Of course it is.\u00a0 But I\u2019ve done enough meandering for now, and maybe it\u2019s time to get my magic in order the same way I\u2019ve been doing by shifting careers.<\/p>\n
I\u2019ve already mentioned a few goals as part of the \u201cBegin at the Beginning\u201d posts, but let\u2019s get just a little more specific.<\/p>\n
1) Rewrite my formal \u201cBook of Shadows\u201d.\u00a0 The first versions were good.\u00a0 They taught me a lot.\u00a0 But in the process, they\u2019ve also become irrelevant.\u00a0 And maybe come up with a new name.\u00a0 I\u2019m getting far enough from Wicca that Book of Shadows seems \u2026 inappropriate.\u00a0 This will be the ongoing process of a lifetime, of course, but it\u2019s still occasionally useful to restart a manuscript from scratch.<\/p>\n
2) Perfect a daily practice.\u00a0 As above: this is the task of a life time, but concrete steps can be made more immediately.\u00a0 I want to have a ritual plan for every day of the week by the time the semester begins.\u00a0 I will be doing Yoga two mornings a week once the semester begins, so that\u2019s Tuesday and Thursday.\u00a0 I think I also want to go through my full Pentagram Rite<\/a> two or three times a week\u2014since doing it actually every day seems to be too much for me, at least at this stage in life.\u00a0 Which leaves me with two or three days a week still in need of a ritual\u2014probably Monday and Friday.<\/p>\n 3) Complete my self-directed course of ceremonial study.\u00a0 Although I\u2019m comfortable with this pushing past the coming year, I want to make serious progress.\u00a0 As above, I am trying to have a concrete plan by the time the semester resumes.<\/p>\n 4) Re-establish my lunar rites, this time on a Dark-to-Dark lunar month rather than on a Full-to-Full.\u00a0 Yet another ongoing task, but this one I have already made good progress on: performing Lunar rites for the first two nights of the Dark Moon.<\/p>\n 5) Practical magic.\u00a0 I\u2019m a magician, damn it.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been bending the universe to my will for the last decade and a half.\u00a0 Sure, my charmed life is partly mortal luck and partly white middle-class privilege, but too much has gone too well against odds too strongly against me.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been cultivating my web of influence for years, and it\u2019s served me well \u2026 but it\u2019s time for me to grow up and start making more sophisticated demands of the universe that \u201cgood friends, good times, and no starving to death under the bridge\u201d.\u00a0 <\/p>\n I\u2019m starting small: reupping the existing wards on my car; making new car-protection talismans for myself, Aradia, and whomever we know that would like the third (for some reason I felt the need to make three); redesigning my house wards (to be implemented when I return to the Sunrise Temple).<\/p>\n 6) Resume my explorations of the Underworld.\u00a0 See previous post on that subject<\/a>.\u00a0 That process has begun as of this Dark Moon.\u00a0 But that gets a post (or three) of it\u2019s own, once I\u2019ve had the chance to process.<\/p>\n There will be more goals, of course.\u00a0 But these are where the radical transformations will begin.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Goals are hard for me sometimes.\u00a0 Life is a journey, not a destination \u2026 right?\u00a0 Of course it is.\u00a0 But I\u2019ve done enough meandering for now, and maybe it\u2019s time to get my magic in order the same way I\u2019ve been doing by shifting careers.
