It\u2019s officially Beltane.\u00a0 My altar isn\u2019t very fancy this season\u2014I don\u2019t really have any appropriate gewgaws or money with which to acquire them, and I sort of have this pervasive fear that if I go too far out with Beltane I\u2019ll wind up with an unexpectedly pregnant partner\u2014but it\u2019s actually been up for a couple weeks.<\/p>\n

Having given up on the Golden Dawn flavored ceremonialism of Penczak\u2019s High Temple altogether, I\u2019ve also rearranged my altar surface just a little.\u00a0 One more it reflects my utter disinterest in maintaining the traditional elemental quarters over working with the space I actually have.\u00a0 The offering bowl is a new addition, reflecting how integral a part of my practice that\u2019s becoming; to the left you can see my box-of-active-sigils, and catch a peak of the Jupiter talisman on the shelf above it.<\/p>\n

For the first time in my academic career, Beltane falls after my finals rather than before or in the midst of, so I will actually be celebrating on Tuesday night.\u00a0 For those who will be doing the \u201cweekend before\u201d celebration, however, I wanted to share a tradition Aradia and I started last year<\/a> and which I will be continuing with this year: \u201cFuck You Beltane\u201d.<\/p>\n

I have traditionally used Samhain\/my birthday to mark my personal \u201cNew Year\u201d, but as a full-time student \u2026 well, post-finals celebrations of Beltane is really much more of a stopping point.\u00a0 And while I\u2019m not hip-deep in shit like I was this time last year, but there\u2019s still a lot of lingering angst and madness that I\u2019d like to be rid of before I start the next cycle of my magical year.<\/p>\n

So here\u2019s a ritual suggestion for those of you who, like me, are in need of a bit of a purge.\u00a0 Get yourself some whole cloves and a mortar and pestle.\u00a0 Build a bonfire.\u00a0 Pound the clove to powder, chanting the names of those people\/things you wished to be purged of, and throw the dust into the fire yelling \u201cFuck you (whoever\/whatever)!\u201d\u00a0 Simple, but cathartic and effective.<\/p>\n

Then drink.\u00a0 And dance.\u00a0 And celebrate the other kind of fucking, if that\u2019s your speed.\u00a0 (Y\u2019all know it\u2019s mine.)<\/p>\n
