{"id":728,"date":"2012-07-07T09:56:55","date_gmt":"2012-07-07T14:56:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/journeythroughtheobsidiandream.wordpress.com\/?p=728"},"modified":"2012-07-07T09:56:55","modified_gmt":"2012-07-07T14:56:55","slug":"mercury-talismans-for-the-retrograde","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/journeythroughtheobsidiandream.com\/index.php\/2012\/07\/07\/mercury-talismans-for-the-retrograde\/","title":{"rendered":"Mercury Talismans For the Retrograde"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Although I don\u2019t have hard data to compare to, and I\u2019m still dealing with the fallout in a lot of ways, I do feel that the <a title=\"Continuing Experiments: Sigils, Talismans, and the Stele of\u00a0Jeu\" href=\"http:\/\/journeythroughtheobsidiandream.wordpress.com\/2012\/05\/17\/continuing-experiments-sigils-talismans-and-the-stele-of-jeu\/\">Venus talisman<\/a> and tincture I made in preparation for that retrograde period helped me get through relatively unscathed.\u00a0 So, in anticipation of the upcoming Mercury retrograde, Aradia and I decided to put together some talismans along similar lines.<\/p>\n<p>Now, in a magical fantasy world where we\u2019re planning further than two weeks ahead, we\u2019d have done that a week or so ago, before the \u201cpre-retrograde period\u201d I keep reading about.\u00a0 In that same magical fantasy world, though, sticking to one\u2019s daily practice would be fun and easy, not real effort, and I would already have fixed everything that\u2019s wrong with my brain <em>years ago<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>I like to work during the Hours of Night.\u00a0 Unfortunately, this is the wrong time of year for that.\u00a0 We printed out the templates and started casting our circle just as the Hour of Mercury came this past Tuesday\u2014taking advantage of the waxing, near-full Moon, rather than waiting on the Day of Mercury\u2014and were barely able to suffumigate the charms, incant the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theoi.com\/Text\/OrphicHymns1.html#27\">Orphic Hymn to Hermes<\/a>, and light the offering candles before the Hour had ended.\u00a0 As with the Venus retrograde, we made a planetary incense blend to suffumigate, and then used the excess to make a tincture as a backup\/battery for the talismans.\u00a0 We also recharged the safe-travel talisman I made with Sannafrid shortly before making the road trip from Sunrise to KC.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/journeythroughtheobsidiandream.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/07\/img_5500.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image:none;margin:0 auto 2px;padding-left:0;padding-right:0;display:block;float:none;padding-top:0;border:0;\" title=\"IMG_5500\" src=\"http:\/\/journeythroughtheobsidiandream.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/07\/img_5500_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_5500\" width=\"191\" height=\"244\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I look forward to seeing how well they help.\u00a0 We should probably have made a separate talisman for Aradia\u2019s workplace;
