{"id":822,"date":"2012-08-21T08:00:48","date_gmt":"2012-08-21T13:00:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/journeythroughtheobsidiandream.wordpress.com\/?p=822"},"modified":"2012-08-21T08:00:48","modified_gmt":"2012-08-21T13:00:48","slug":"sunrise-temple-altar-rebuilt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/journeythroughtheobsidiandream.com\/index.php\/2012\/08\/21\/sunrise-temple-altar-rebuilt\/","title":{"rendered":"Sunrise Temple Altar Rebuilt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rebuilding the altar wasn\u2019t quite the first thing I did upon returning to Sunrise, Indiana, but it was close.\u00a0 I have been tinkering with it a little every day, but I think I am mostly done.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/journeythroughtheobsidiandream.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/08\/img_5543.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image:none;margin:0 auto 2px;padding-left:0;padding-right:0;display:block;float:none;padding-top:0;border:0;\" title=\"IMG_5543\" src=\"http:\/\/journeythroughtheobsidiandream.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/08\/img_5543_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_5543\" width=\"323\" height=\"429\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The uppermost portions are little changed.\u00a0 The left side contains my idols of Dionysus and Hephaestus; the right side has my shrines to Rhea and Athena.\u00a0 The center is currently a collection of my personal talismans and artifacts of power, waiting to be remade into a seasonal altar.\u00a0 Behind it all sits a mirror, in which reflect my library, textbooks, and an image of Dionysus which I cannot fit on the altar itself.\u00a0 The reflections were unplanned, but work beautifully: my books are every bit as much a part of my life as my gods.<\/p>\n<p>The level below has been changed significantly.\u00a0 While Sue and my vision mask still reside there, the have both been moved, and now share space with images of and offering bowls for my Natal Genius and Demon.\u00a0 Those shelves also bear representations of the planetary powers: the \u201cmasculine\u201d of the left; the \u201cfeminine\u201d on the right.<\/p>\n<p>The two double bookshelves on either side of the table contain various magical experiments.\u00a0 Going counter clockwise from the upper left: my various active talismans and sigils; my house wards; my safe travel spell, money-for-Greece spell, and anti-fertility charms; and a collection of talismans of people and places close to me.\u00a0 In the middle are my \u201cGod\u201d and \u201cGoddess\u201d statues beneath a miniature cosmology.<\/p>\n<p>The flat surface of the table is, finally, pure workbench.\u00a0 My Triangle of the Art holds the place of honor at the center of my elemental symbols.\u00a0 To the right sit my ritual knife, my talisman of the Beneficial Sign, my brazier, and the coffee I just offered to all my household spirits.\u00a0 To the left are my copper ring and bracelet that I use when channeling forces, my \u201cbolean\u201d and my cauldron.<\/p>\n<p>Misclaneous tools and projects hide below.\u00a0 My wands are visible in the corner on the left.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rebuilding the altar wasn\u2019t quite the first thing I did upon returning to Sunrise, Indiana, but it was close.\u00a0 I have been tinkering with it a little every day, but I think I am mostly done.
