{"id":86,"date":"2011-10-01T07:50:00","date_gmt":"2011-10-01T12:50:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/journeythroughtheobsidiandream.wordpress.com\/2011\/10\/01\/a-sacrifice-is-something-you-value"},"modified":"2011-10-01T07:50:00","modified_gmt":"2011-10-01T12:50:00","slug":"a-sacrifice-is-something-you-value","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/journeythroughtheobsidiandream.com\/index.php\/2011\/10\/01\/a-sacrifice-is-something-you-value\/","title":{"rendered":"A Sacrifice Is Something You Value"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was home in-between classes earlier this week.\u00a0 I was still thinking on the issue of <a href=\"http:\/\/journeythroughtheobsidiandream.blogspot.com\/2011\/09\/lesser-banishing-ritual-of-not-paying.html\">what sort of daily devotions to offer my gods while conjuring the Archangels every morning in the LBRP<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I made myself a pot of coffee.\u00a0 (Mmmmmm \u2026 French press.)\u00a0 My Kouros and Cycladic figures demanded a taste.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCoffee?\u201d\u00a0 I asked them.\u00a0 \u201cReally?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Oh, yeah.\u00a0 They wanted coffee.\u00a0 (As Aradia pointed out to me somewhat after the fact, \u201cWell, it\u2019s precious too you, isn\u2019t it?\u201d\u00a0 Mmm, my precious.\u00a0 Yes, yes it is.)<\/p>\n<p>Two hours after pouring that caffeinated libation, I got an email announcing that the paper I was stressing out about would not be due for another four days.\u00a0 I was free to devote the whole of my attention my spiritual obligations.<\/p>\n<p>But I now know to pour a libation* of coffee to my Kouros and Cycladic figures every time I spend the morning at home and actually make a pot.\u00a0 Perhaps for people who have been working with gods longer (or more intimately) than I have, this sort of thing\u00a0 might come as less of a surprise.\u00a0 Or maybe not. <\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>* \u03c3\u03c0\u03b5\u03bd\u03b4\u03c9 \u2013 transliterated as \u201dspendo\u201d \u2013 \u201cI pour a libation\u201d my new favorite verb.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was home in-between classes earlier this week.\u00a0 I was still thinking on the issue of what sort of daily devotions to offer my gods while conjuring the Archangels every morning in the LBRP.
